So you don't work in Rockland County? What are your commuting choices? Is driving the only way?
Rockland County is an excellent place to live if you commute to New York City, Westchester, Stamford or Bergen County. Here are the transportation options available to you.
The Tappan Zee Bridge, Bear Mountain Bridge and George Washington Bridge offer convenient Hudson River crossings.
The New York State Thruway and the Palisades Parkway run through the heart of Rockland County and connect to numerous major county roads.
New York City commuters can park their cars at commuter parking lots and take NJ Transit trains from Rockland County, catch a Metro North train from Tarrytown, or take the Red and Tan buses to New York City or to towns in New Jersey.
In 2004, Metro North opened up the Secaucus Transfer Station which allowed train commuters the option of commuting into Penn Station. Prior to this option, commuters transferred to Path trains in Hoboken. It saves approximately 30 minutes each way if you work in Midtown or the Upper West side.
