If you work in New York City, arguably the most
sophisticated and famous city in the world, you will be amazed at
the differences you'll find when you come home to Rockland at the
end of a hard day's work. The smallest county in New York State offers
an incredible variety of lifestyles ... from the funky edge of life
in the Hudson River Villages, to the solid feel of suburban neighborhoods,
to the quietude of the wooden enclaves in northern New City and
the Ramapo hills.
Just forty five minutes from midtown, you'll find
nineteenth century villages that still have all-volunteer fire departments,
part-time village boards, lovely trails along the Hudson River,
and lots of green space, ... in fact, one-third of our county is
parkland. This string of Victorian riverfront villages and hamlets,
stretching from Palisades to Upper Nyack and on to Stony Point,
is nestled along the west bank of the Hudson River. Some of the
more alluring communities are Sneden's Landing, Piermont, Grandview
and the Nyacks.
